ELFBAR ELFX Pro Classic Edition Review – First Real-World Impressions
I have been using the ELFBAR ELFX Pro Classic Edition in everyday conditions since 4 August 2026. Rather than judging the device after a handful of puffs, I wanted to see how the same pod behaves over several refills, how different settings affect familiar flavours, how much e-liquid I actually use and how the battery performs in my own usage pattern.
For this real-world test, I have now documented more than 600 puffs with the 0.8 ohm Dual Mesh pod.

Why I chose Green Mint as my reference liquid
For the initial flavour assessment, I deliberately used Just Juice Mints Green Mint without nicotine. I already knew this liquid from several other pod systems, which made it easier for me to identify how strongly individual parts of a familiar flavour profile were being presented.
I started with the 0.8 ohm pod in Eco mode at 17 W.
My first impression was surprisingly clear. The flavour initially felt very intense and somewhat overloaded rather than particularly refined.
The main difference for me was the balance. The actual mint character was considerably less prominent, while the cooling sensation came through very strongly. Compared with the UWELL Caliburn GPP pods I already know well, I initially missed some of the finer mint character.
This was not a case of the ELFX Pro producing too little flavour. If anything, the opposite was true. For my taste, the cooling dominated the profile more than I wanted it to.
Turbo at 22 W noticeably changed my flavour perception
I then tested the same pod in Turbo mode at 22 W.
The difference was clearly noticeable to me. The cooling sensation became even more intense, while the actual mint character moved further into the background and was almost lost for me.
With this particular liquid, Turbo was therefore not my preferred setting.
There is also a technical distinction between the two modes. According to the manufacturer, the two mesh elements alternate in Eco mode, while Turbo mode uses them simultaneously.
That provides a plausible technical basis for the two modes feeling and tasting different. It does not, however, prove that the coil operation alone caused the specific flavour changes I perceived.
My impression changed after roughly 100 puffs
After around 100 puffs, I found the flavour noticeably more balanced and the pod considerably easier to enjoy.
This matters when judging the device. If I had based my conclusion only on the first ten or twenty puffs, my assessment would have been much more negative.
I would not describe 100 puffs as a general break-in period for ELFX pods. It is simply what I observed with this particular pod, liquid and personal puff pattern.
Even after the improvement, I personally still preferred the flavour presentation I know from several UWELL and Vaporesso pods as well as Aspire Pixo pods. To me, these can present certain parts of familiar flavour profiles in a slightly finer and more separated way.
This is my personal perception rather than an objective ranking of the different pod systems.
Adjustable power is a major practical advantage for me
One of the biggest practical advantages of the ELFX Pro is the ability to adjust the power output.
I had previously tested the standard ELFX pod system. One of my main criticisms of that device was that I could not reduce the output when a particular liquid and pod combination felt too intense for my taste.
The ELFX Pro gives me considerably more control. With the 0.8 ohm pod, for example, I was able to settle on 17 W for most of this test.
I also find the comparison with devices such as the Vaporesso XROS 6 Mini interesting. Its power is not freely adjustable either, yet I personally find the output with the pods I use there very well matched.
That is a subjective impression rather than a measured power comparison.
Using several liquids in the same 0.8 ohm pod
After the initial Green Mint test, I deliberately continued using the same 0.8 ohm pod.
At 220 puffs, I switched to Elfbar ELFLIQ Watermelon with 10 mg/ml nicotine salt. This was not intended as a separate liquid review. I had already used the same liquid in other devices, making it useful for observing how the ELFX Pro presents a familiar flavour.
The watermelon was clearly recognisable and tasted good overall. Its characteristic sweet watermelon profile came through clearly. Compared with other devices in which I had already used the same liquid, however, the ELFX setup did not make it taste noticeably better to me.
A small amount of mint from the previous fill remained in the background. Interestingly, I actually enjoyed the accidental combination of sweet watermelon and residual mint.
At 418 puffs, I refilled the pod with Yeti Summit Sour Grape Ice 20 mg/ml nicotine salt.
At 590 puffs, I returned to my original nicotine-free Just Juice Green Mint reference liquid.
Previous flavours remained detectable after refilling
After returning to Green Mint, I could still detect faint watermelon and grape notes.
The later Green Mint result therefore cannot be treated as a clean repeat of the original reference test with a freshly filled pod.
It is still useful from an everyday-use perspective. In my test, faint traces of previous flavours remained detectable after changing liquids.
I would not generalise this into a claim that every ELFX pod strongly retains previous flavours. A much larger and more controlled comparison would be required for that.
A subtle flavour change appeared at around 590 puffs
At roughly 590 puffs, I noticed another small change. There was a faint background taste that I would describe as slightly tired or used.
It was subtle. The pod was still normally usable and there was no burnt taste.
I cannot determine from this test alone whether this was already caused by coil ageing. Several different liquids had been used in the same pod, and retained flavours may also have influenced the overall result.
For that reason, this observation is not a general claim that an ELFX pod lasts 590 puffs.
Comparing my experience with UWELL Caliburn GPP and Vaporesso XROS
The observation is still relevant to me because I have not noticed the same early tired background flavour to a comparable degree in several other pod systems I use regularly.
I have used UWELL Caliburn GPP pods in devices including the Caliburn G5, Caliburn G5 KOKO, Caliburn G5 Lite SE and Caliburn G4.
With one GPP pod, I had used approximately 50 ml of liquid without noticing a comparable used background flavour.
I have had a similar experience with the Vaporesso XROS platform. The Vaporesso XROS 6 is one of the devices I use for comparison, and I have also spent time with Vaporesso COREX 3 replacement pods for the XROS series.
Under my own practical test conditions, the UWELL GPP and Vaporesso XROS pods have therefore performed better so far in terms of the flavour stability I personally perceive.
This is my personal experience, not a universal ranking of pod quality or lifespan. Different liquids, power levels, puff patterns, pod age, production batches and individual flavour perception can all affect the result.
How many puffs did I get from a 2 ml fill?
Across the three fills documented so far, my values ranged from approximately 170 to 200 puffs per 2 ml.
| Green Mint | approx. 180 puffs | included some additional testing in Turbo mode at 22 W |
| ELFLIQ Watermelon | approx. 198 puffs | from 220 to 418 puffs |
| Yeti Summit Sour Grape Ice | approx. 172 puffs | from 418 to 590 puffs |
The first Green Mint fill is only partly comparable with the later two because I also used Turbo mode at 22 W during that section of the test.
Most of the overall test was carried out with the 0.8 ohm pod at 17 W in Eco mode. My typical puff duration was approximately 1 to 3 seconds.
The documented range of 170–200 puffs per 2 ml therefore applies only to my personal test conditions.
Actual liquid consumption depends on power, puff duration, draw intensity, liquid and operating mode. Increasing the power can vaporise more liquid per puff and therefore reduce the number of puffs obtained from the same 2 ml fill.
Battery testing: measured data rather than extrapolation
I initially avoided making battery-life claims because I had not recorded the battery percentage when I first started using the device.
On 6 August 2026 at 18:32, the ELFX Pro showed 30% battery at 285 puffs and I connected it to the charger.
At 19:05, the display showed 100% and I disconnected it. My test device therefore took 33 minutes to charge from 30% to 100%.
The puff counter was not reset during charging. This means the device was at 285 puffs and 30% immediately before charging and still at 285 puffs, but now 100%, immediately afterwards.
The device was not charged again before the documented 664-puff measurement.
| 285 puffs | 100% after charging |
| 398 puffs | 90% |
| approx. 460–464 puffs | drop from 90% to 80% directly observed |
| 524 puffs | 70% |
| 554 puffs | 60% |
| 581 puffs | 60% |
| 590 puffs | 60% |
| 664 puffs | drop to 50% directly observed |
That gives us 379 puffs between 100% at 285 puffs and the observed 50% point at 664 puffs.
I am deliberately not doubling that number to produce a theoretical full-charge puff count. The percentage indicator does not fall perfectly linearly, some values are simply snapshots and only certain percentage changes were directly observed.
For this type of practical review, I consider the documented measurement sequence more useful than an unsupported extrapolation.
What do I like about the ELFX Pro so far?
The most important practical advantage for me is the adjustable power output. It gives me more control over how a particular pod and liquid combination behaves.
That alone makes the ELFX Pro considerably more usable for me than the standard ELFX system I tested previously.
The colour display is also useful in everyday use, making it easy to check power, operating mode, battery percentage and puff count directly on the device.
What has been less convincing?
The flavour presentation of the 0.8 ohm pod has not clearly surpassed the pod systems I already prefer.
With Green Mint in particular, I found the first puffs very cooling-heavy and less finely separated than I expected. After approximately 100 puffs, the balance improved substantially for me.
After several refills, I then noticed two additional points: faint traces of previous flavours remained detectable and at roughly 590 puffs I became aware of a very subtle used background note.
Neither observation is enough to define the general characteristics or lifespan of ELFX pods. They simply describe what happened with my test pod under the conditions documented here.
How do I currently view the value for money?
My first impression of the overall value proposition is fairly reserved.
The ELFX Pro competes in a category where there are already several well-equipped refillable pod systems. Examples include the UWELL Caliburn G5, Caliburn G5 KOKO and Vaporesso XROS 6.
For me, that means the complete package matters: display, adjustable output, battery, pod choice, flavour presentation, replacement pod cost and how the pods perform over time.
There is also a broad choice of replacement pods on competing platforms, including products such as the Vaporesso XROS COREX 3 2 ml pods in a four-pack.
I am deliberately not listing fixed market prices here because they can change by retailer and over time. Based on my experience so far, however, the ELFX Pro has not yet demonstrated a clear practical advantage that decisively changes my view of its current price positioning.
My current verdict on the ELFX Pro Classic Edition
My experience with the ELFBAR ELFX Pro Classic Edition so far is mixed rather than negative.
Compared with the standard ELFX, I find it considerably more flexible. Adjustable power is particularly useful because I can respond to the pod, liquid and my own preferences instead of accepting a fixed output.
The 0.8 ohm pod produces clear and generally good flavour. After a difficult start with my Green Mint reference liquid, the balance improved considerably for me after roughly 100 puffs.
At the same time, it has not yet provided finer flavour separation than the UWELL GPP, Vaporesso XROS or Aspire Pixo setups I already know well.
After several liquid changes, faint traces of previous fills also remained noticeable. At roughly 590 puffs, I first detected a very subtle used background flavour. Whether this was already related to coil ageing cannot be determined from this test alone.
Across the three documented 2 ml fills, my results ranged from approximately 170 to 200 puffs. Most of the testing was carried out with the 0.8 ohm pod at 17 W Eco and approximately 1–3 second puffs.
After a documented full charge, the device delivered 379 puffs between 100% and the observed 50% battery point. I am intentionally not extrapolating that figure because of the stepped battery display.
Overall, the ELFX Pro has worked well in my test and is clearly more versatile for me than the standard ELFX. So far, however, I have not found a decisive advantage over the established alternatives I already use regularly.
I will continue using the device and the current pod in everyday conditions. This article reflects the test data documented so far.
FAQ: ELFBAR ELFX Pro Classic Edition
How does the ELFX Pro 0.8 ohm pod taste?
Flavour is clear and generally good in my test. With my Green Mint reference liquid, however, the first puffs felt very cooling-heavy and somewhat overloaded. After around 100 puffs, I found the balance noticeably better. Flavour perception is subjective and other users may experience the same setup differently.
What is the difference between Eco and Turbo mode?
According to the manufacturer, the two mesh elements alternate in Eco mode and work simultaneously in Turbo mode. With my 0.8 ohm pod, Green Mint at 22 W Turbo tasted considerably cooler and less finely balanced to me than at 17 W Eco.
How many puffs did I get from a 2 ml fill?
Across the three fills documented so far, my results ranged from roughly 170 to 200 puffs. Most of the test used the 0.8 ohm pod at 17 W Eco with approximately 1–3 second puffs. Power, puff duration, draw intensity, liquid and operating mode can all significantly affect consumption.
How quickly does the ELFX Pro charge?
My test device took 33 minutes to charge from 30% to 100%. Actual charging time can vary depending on starting charge, charger, cable and other conditions.
How many puffs did I reach before the battery showed 50%?
After a documented full charge, the device was at 100% at 285 puffs. The battery indicator reached the observed 50% point at 664 puffs. That equals 379 puffs in my personal usage pattern. Because the percentage display updates in steps, I do not extrapolate this into a theoretical full-charge puff count.
How long does an ELFX 0.8 ohm pod last?
My current test is not sufficient to establish a general lifespan. At around 590 puffs, I first noticed a very faint used background flavour. The pod remained normally usable and did not taste burnt. Several liquid changes in the same pod may also have influenced the result.
Is the ELFX Pro better than the standard ELFX?
For my own use, I currently prefer the ELFX Pro mainly because the power is adjustable. That allows me to tune the output more closely to the pod, liquid and my personal preference. This is my own practical assessment rather than an objective ranking of the two devices.
